'Crisis' is the first album by the Tomas Merlo Group, led by the musician, composer and arranger Tomas Merlo. Recognized as one of the greatest exponents of the Chapman Stick worldwide, this group's first work reflects the search to introduce such an obscure and revolutionary instrument to the world of Jazz. 'Crisis' evokes the influence of Jazz-Rock from the late 70s and early 80s, mainly influenced by such renowned bands and musicians as Weather Report, Jaco Pastorius or Allan Holdsworth. The title of the album has to do first with the global situation that we are experiencing and which has influenced this recording to some extent, due to the covid-19 pandemic. This has been combined with personal experiences which the author himself has lived.
