Malibra is a musical project born in 2010 and led by the griot from Burkina Faso, Brahima Dembele; his is the music, and his are the lyrics, all in the African language Djoula, widespread in West Africa. The musical idea draws directly from the African rhythmic and melodic background; the echo of small village choirs, the rhythms of traditional dances, the lively and melancholic colours of wonderful and faraway landscapes. This Afro background, however, meets and merges with different types of Western music, which also have their roots in Africa: reggae, jazz. Traditional African instruments such as djembe, balafon and kora also meet and mix with keyboards, piano and drums. In short, a journey from Africa to us.
